Finally figured out mounting the home-build roof rack, and did so. Just a brief test with some Race Ramps in the cargo bag up to ~50 proved successful. Going to take it on the highway tomorrow morning and see how it fares at speed.

I lost my wheel lock key, the one that is used to key into that unique bolt on each of the wheels.

Anyone know how I can source a replacement?

Wasn't really today, but over the past week I drove over 2600 miles from Washington state to SoCal and back. Car did amazingly well. While I was down in California I visited my brother at Beverly Hills BMW for a few things. OFH gasket change, tranny service, tranny mounts, brake flush, oil change. He was going to walnut blast the intake valves but said they didnt look too bad. Its crazy how much of a difference in feel the mounts made. I got the revshift 80a set for "OEM+". Glad I didn't get anything more dense.

Pretty sure you can buy just the key online for whatever set you have. If it's the BMW brand one then the dealer will have a lot of keys laying around. Most tire shops have a plethora of them because customers come in all the time and don't give the key.

Wrapped my center console and the rest of the gross gray poplar trim all so I can like the look of the performance shiftknob. Probably a bit tacky but the 1er interior doesn't exactly scream classy anyway .

Just got back from my weekend getaway in pa for mpact and now I don't even know what I want out of this car. Track days and hpde is fun but watching all the 1ers do the slipstream roll races makes me wanna make balls to the wall power. 2021 is gonna get expensive.

Don't know your car's history, but is there a chance there is a card buried in your manual somewhere that lists the vendor and key #? Curiously, I do not have such card for wife's new Lexus, but do have for my 2010 Colorado.

Went to the BMW dealer today, the Parts guy came out with a box full of master keys. We found the right key and he put the order in for me. It arrives tomorrow for only $15!!

So describe the change? Is it liveable day to day? I keep thinking about doing this when I swap in my BMW performance shifter.

Dropped it back off at the body shop for them to finish the hood paint, wet sand the entire car and ceramic coat.

Pics when it's done!

The dealer should be able to help, but it'll cost you. I think there are some janky "universal" ones on Amazon you could try.

I think my dad saw the same video because we were talking about doing that if worse comes to worse!
Luckily the dealer can get me one tomorrow for cheap!

Livable is pretty subjective, but after driving 950 miles for 14 hours on one of the days on my trip home I was pretty racked. I'm not sure if that was more due to my exhaust or the mounts. You definitely hear and feel more of the engine and tranny. Almost sounds like a whine with added vibes that remind me of a diesel engine in the low-mid rpm range. Day to day driving 20 miles or so, its very livable. It feels more racecar-ey to me lol. The good thing is, they're cheap, and easy to install. So try it out and see would be my advice.

I'm going to be using the G2 caliper paint instead. I'm curious about it and powder coat is about $50 per caliper (and that's a deal for me from the guy)and requires full disassembly.

How do you like that hood? Does it help keep the engine bay cooler than the stock hood?

Heads up if you're doing yellow, you're gonna need 2 kits. I was damn close to needing 3 but I decided not to go full coverage on the backside of the caliper. It takes a lot of coats to get it opaque.

The blue went on very well. The first coat was opaque immediately and I only had a few light spots. After the second coat it was very thick.

I probably could've done 4 full calipers with 2 coats each with the amount provided. Overall I'm pleased with it.

For the effort, I think I'd have them powder coated if I did it again. I ended up having to disassemble because one of the pistons felt gritty. But it was nice I was able to do this all at home in my garage and if I hadn't had to take them apart to clean, then it'd be much simpler than powder coat.
