BMW M1 Spotted Again
Here are some new pictures of the very same BMW M1 mule that has been spotted before (see here and here). We can clearly see the temporary rear wheel arches affixed to accomodate the testing of a wider track. The production M1 will sport actual broader flared arches (per the design details revealed HERE) to fit the widened rear track.
These pictures are courtesy of German Sportauto. [source: www.sportauto-online.de] Best regards, south

You can totally see the wider tires in these shots!
Wish the snow wasn't so dusty on the back end--would love to get a peek at the quads....

Nice find, South! The left exhaust looks to protrude a bit more than stock doesn't it? Either that or I'm seeing things.

that first picture is ridiculous, the fenders flare out like a mofo, those rear tires are going to be huuuge.

The rear fender flares won't be THAT big, but they will be beefier than the regular 1-series that's for sure.

Well this is getting tough. My lease is up in May. The M1 doesn't come out until 2011. Do I extend my lease for a year (if I even can) or do I go with the CPO '06 997 for 50K and 28,000 miles on it? I know, tough life!

Do the rear tires *really* look wider to you guys?
I'm still speculating that this is a 135xi mule, rather than the so-called ///M1. Before anyone interjects, I'm fully aware that BMW has confirmed that the ///M car will be built; however, based on the fact that these wheels/tires look to be squared off, in addition to the ridiculous amount of wheel gap in the front (just like a 335xi has), and in conjunction with the flare (which is a good way to lead people to think in another direction), it just makes me think otherwise. Either way, it's cool to know SOMETHING good is in development.
