Agreed. He wouldn't have made it half-way through this remark before the vette driver took off in a cloud of smoke.

I cannot believe someone driving a GM vehicle of any kind would say such shit.
The German auto industry, be it BMW, VW, or Merc, managed to rebuild itself from the rubble of WW2 - literally. All the while GM enjoyed all the advantages of post war America, yet still managed to run itself into the ground the instant foreign competition entered the marketplace. In any event, the Corvette's future is on very shaky ground. Best case scenario is that it will be spun off from Chevy and sold to the Chinese or some Saudi Prince to play around with for a few years. Worst case, it will be severely neutered under NEWGM or killed off completely, as there's no room for such wasteful gas hogs in Obama's stable. |

I usually just roll down the windows and laugh A LOT. This normally gets two responses: Them laughing as well but mostly they get pissed off and take off to act like a retard elsewhere.

Had similar with vet. I was surprised I was able to keep pace with him for as long as I did. (128)!
He seemed surprised too. When the charger saw us coming and hit it, I peeked at speedo, whoa doggie, enough playing for me!! |

If I was sitting at the red light, I would have said, "You must have gotten a great deal on your vette, considering GM filed for bankruptcy protection." Then laughed a lot.
Also, with the Dinan Stage 2 you would have 384 horsepower at 5700 rpm and 421 lb-ft torque at 4300 rpm... Sounds plausible. I also have stage 2 and it is breath taking. I think anyone who has this installed or even JB3 (which is even more HR and torque) will agree, you may have just shocked the vette driver who underestimated your car, then the vette driver recovered. either way, good on ya!

Read an article about how the Chevy Equinox engines being built in China and being shipped to US and 55 of the body parts are manufactured in Canada. You gotta love the American made, patriotic marketing; see video: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/26/bu...s/26chevy.html lets not forget the Hemi V8's being made in Saltillo plant in Mexico...the list goes on and on. I guess I'm just amazed how people who say "buy American" really don't know that their buying a foreign car.

I'm sure if you had been driving a G35 or some Acura/Honda/Toyota he'd have made some rude remark about the Japanese too. While I'd be hurt by the remarks and love nothing better than to leave him eating my dust it's a game you'll never win at if you think about it. Sometimes its best just to let guys like that go their merry ignorant way.

Sorry for selecting your comment to respond to, as my comment was directed towards the larger group of negative commentators about the Vette and it's drivers. Your comment illustrated the stereotype so I responded. It wasn't directed at you specifically. |

A few weeks ago I pulled up to a light next to a Mustang GT and the driver did pretty much the same thing the vett driver did.
Long story short, I reached the next stop light MUCH sooner than he did, then he proceeded to give me the finger. Ive only been flipped off a handfull of times, but it always seems to be the drivers of american cars that do it |

...btw, he's right!
BMW was the engine producer for the Luftwaffe! For those who dont already know, the BMW roundell is an image of a german WWII airplane propeller spinning. Was doing a job for a customer, drove up in the 1, he yelled at me "get that Nazi car off my driveway!". He's a cool dude tho and was just kidding, he loved my 1. |
