+1...are we trying to make our cars look like EVOs and STIs?

I think #1 reason is the look no doubt about it.. 2nd reason will only be because its an aftermarket FMI and it won't fit the mesh...

all that just for the mesh or for the bracket behind it? I took the mesh out in 30 seconds...all you do is push those tabs down.

this is strictly a matter of preference...I am doing it because I am putting in a custom finished Evolution Racewerks FMIC and don't want to hide it. Also, I like the open mouth look common on evo's and sti's.

+1 why personalize your car when you can be a lemming and leave it stock and look like every other car on the road. Its his car let him do whatever he wants with it, unless you are willing to pitch in on his car note?

Having an open intercooler is cool for the cars which didn't come with one. The 135 did, so to 'show it off' therefore must be counter-cool.

Is anyone else thinking that those brackets would be perfect mounting points for a custom intercooler water sprayer??

I'd keep the mesh on, though..

I have to disagree with the people who claim it looks bad...

It looks really agressive without the mesh.

people have and always will disagree with things people do with their cars and anything else in life for that matter. I don't care that some don't like it. I bought the car for ME and I will do whatever I want to it. I don't mind the comments disagreeing with what I've done with my car because I know every morning when I walk into my garage I look at my car with a smile and drive it with a smile! My car makes me happy the same way I would hope those with 500+ hp or completely stock 1ers!

+1.

...when it starts quickly and runs smoothly.

and besides, there's a difference between some minor visual mods that most people wouldn't even notice, and something as incredibly tacky as a twinturbo badge on the trunk.

I would put painter tape over the areas to be trimmed, allow overlap on the areas you want to keep as not to chip the paint and be careful when you take the tape back off you just got that bumper repainted and the paint may not be fully cured. Which will cause it to chip when you take the tape off pull it straight back over itself.
