Instructor was kind of annoying with the directions, on my first autox run, my instructor didn't say anything and just gave pointers before the next run. It's gotta be a bit distracting with him talking that much during a run.
...but did he say "oh my god, this car is a beast" at the end of the run? lol! Can't wait 'til July for SCCA Hawaii's first event for the '10-'11 season.

All the more experienced people are often willing to give pointers just by watching you run though.

SCCA Hawaii region.
Looks like sodara was in an SCCA event as well considering the SCCA helmet inspection stickers on the instructor's helmet.

They're not that confusing, there are pointer cones that tell you which side to pass on. Also, drivers are allowed to walk the course a few times before you actually drive it. I'm yet to DNF (get lost in a course) *knock on wood.*

Actually, I really appreciate it when instructors are vocal and assertive. I have so much to learn, I find it's helpful to hear what to look out for (and what I've just messed up) WHILE I'm on the course, and not in a review session afterwards. Again, that's just me.

lol, I had to cut some of his "this car is f 'en awesome" comments.
Instructor ride-a-longs are always a good idea early on because it's nice to know where to position yourself. Before that run, I was having a hard time putting power down(slid around too much) and I just felt lost. |
