Jb3 2.0 - Do It
HOLY COW - just got 'er done last night.
Wow what a diff - feels like a whole new car from 1.4. Throttle response is insane and the boost comes on immediately. SMOOTH power delivery. I need better tires in a big way. Oh and say goodbye to gas milage. I can't keep my foot out of it. Way to go Terry! AA exhaust get's here next week too! B&M SSK went on last week. It's been a good couple of weeks for the 1er! But yeah, tires are next, I'm spinning the entire way through 1st n 2nd.

and it comes right out for service to preserve the warranty and dealer relations? I've been trying to nail down the EvoTech software because it's completely transparent - but it's a WHOLE lot more money - and requires shipping an ECU all over the place (would you trust your mail carrier with the heart of your 1er?) and all just just because I'm paranoid.

Glad you got the Chip and cable in. I was wondering if you got around to installing it. I agree that no one should hesitate un this upgrade. It is by far the best thing since sliced bread, which we all know is pretty damn good

Where did you get your tint done? I live in Denver as well and had the dealer do it - not dark enough for me.

It's threads and posts like this which really get me excited. That's why I bought the 135i it's very quick. I can't believe it's power and I'm stock. Sometimes I think I should JB3 it and call it a day. I know I'll rate it.

Are you going to dyno the car? It would be fun to see some JB3 2.0 numbers at altitude. If you don't have an initial stock baseline dyno, I did a stock pull over at Mac Autosport in Parker on their dynojet that would give a reasonable comparison between the 2.0 tune and stock if you go to the same dyno. They have it in their computers for easy comparison on site. Enjoy the new power! |

5 requires at least 91 oct, 7 requires at least 100 oct race gas. BMS suggests at least an intake for any map for smoothness. I'm stuck on map 3, thanks to CO's lovely 91 octane.

Doh! I stand corrected, thanks. Also, map 5 requires 93 oct. for most, not 91 oct.

I burned my 2.0 chip, installed the new capacitor to upgrade my board to G2, and reinstalled everything. Now I just need to test drive it. Guess that will have to wait until tomorrow.
I test drove a C5 Z06 last night. I told the owner it felt almost as fast as my 135............ |

Do an Oil Change
I've 2.0 as well, it feels great from day one, BUT, the car feels EVEN better after I changed my 8000mile oil last weekend.
The car is now SMOOTH AS BUTTER! I've a manual, and before the 2.0upgrade, I's running 1.3 (so I skipped 1.4). 1.3 has great power gain and all, but it's rough and brutal on low rpm shifts, i.e. daily commute. With v2.0, low rpm ~3k, is so much smoother, almost no power drop between shift, especially 1st->2nd. If you've a JB3 and it's not v2.0, Upgrade it. I've a G1 board, so it cost me a bit more to upgrade, but it's worth every penny. If you've upgraded to 2.0, and you haven't changed your oil for over 5000miles, do an oil change, cost me 66bucks for oil and filter, worth every penny too. If you don't have a JB3, what the heck are you waiting for? :P |
