No falling out of love here. There are days when I really am divided whether I take the 135i or RS4 out, I think that says a lot. Love the moddibility of the platform (a luxury I don't have with the other NA engine), and adding new mods only increases the love and afinity towards the car. That is why I am trying to do them one by one and resist the urge of a 'big-bang' approach... With the list I have scheduled, seems I will be in it for a while

I wonder at these squeaks and rattles others talk about..i have over 20k miles on my car and no squeaks and rattles unless I have something stashed in one of the side pockets....and I love my 135i everyday...and even more now that I am away from it for the time being...

I have 5000 miles on mine, having had it for almost six months. I just invested in the dealer installing satellite radio in it. I have no squeaks or rattles (yet!) and couldn't be happier with the car! I look forward to driving it and miss it terribly when I'm away.

I can't say I'm falling out of love with my 135, but I will say after having it for 2 summers now I want something more sporty. I origionally wanted a C6Z06, and even more so now that they are in the mid 40s for a used one! My roommate used to have one and they are just an amazing supercar for the money. I used to love modifying cars to be something better then they are, but now it just seems like a big PITA. I'd rather buy a car that already has what I want performance wise.
The 1er is a great daily driver tho |

I was pissed at the car when it was in the shop for 2 weeks, but as soon as I got back in for the drive home, I kind of forgave it. If it didn't have the reliability issues, I would be a BMW convert for life.

Love the car! Best part of the day is getting to/from (insert destination). Irecently turned 10k, still solid as a rock. The only thing that ruins my experience is the dealer - absolutely HORRIBLE service! Other than that - I'll be keeping mine for a while

It's amazing the stark contrast people experience with these cars.
Some have no rattles and some seem to have them all over the place. I only have about 3700 miles and it's solid, and I drive on crappy Chicago area roads daily. I've managed to only hit 1 small pothole so far, the quick steering and vigilance helps. Also, I've read posts saying they have this whistle sound at speed. Pre 2010 1, we all have the same mirror setup, but my 1 is realy quiet at even over 100, other than tire noise and exhaust sound. Anyone who buys a convertible especially with a sport suspension and RFTs should expect impact noise. Change the tires to something more reasonable and the ride will improve noticeably. |

Thanks for all the feedback and moral support in my time of weakness. lol
Yesterday after work I headed over to the Mini dealer and drove a Cooper S hatch and a vert as well. Fun cars, especially the hatch with the manual transmission. After the Mini test drives, I got back in my 135 to leave and instantly recalled why I liked the 135 so much to begin with - it is the most comfortable car I've ever owned. It really fits me like a glove... and the performance is incredible. It would be hard for me to switch to anything other than a BMW. Maybe when the next generation 1er comes out, I'll make a switch to the coupe. |

For a day or so, one annoying rattle was coming from the passenger seat belt. I had my wife reposition her belt and that was that. Another time, there was a squeak from the trunk as my wife's overstuffed suitcase was rubbing against the bottom of the top compartment. Come to think of it, the car is much quieter when I'm driving solo... I'm also constantly surprised and delighted by the lack of rattles from my 1999 E46 sedan, even after 94,000 miles. Tom |

Now I am in my 08 IS350 I miss the performance aspect of the 1 very much. In the end it was the right decision FOR ME to give the 135i back, simply because I can't be at the dealer all the time and after warranty cost will skyrocket.
I will say the IS350 will be my last automatic. Driving with one is like walking vs. being walked by a powered wheel chair. |

I've had it since May of '08.
I don't think I'll ever fall out of love with this 1. I easily get tired of fun cars, but this 1 is different. I don't know what it is... It's fun and simple, it's rewarding, it fits like my favorite old leather glove, it's even charming...

Unfortunately I never really fell in love with my 1er....I do like it a good bit though.
I have a few creaks here and there, especially when it's cold. I had a very annoying "clicking" noise that was coming from the back. That took over a week to sort out, eventually leading to them changing the hinges on the tonneau cover.
