I have read so many threads on this and I keep going back and forth on what is acceptable. However, fmxomar's post solidified it for me. This is really what is comes down to...no "M" engine (or any other performance product from the ///M division) equals no ///M badges on the outside of the car. License plate frame is still questionable.

It comes down to the numbers behind the Logo(or in front in a couple of cases)...not the logo itself. Notice the trend: M1, M3, M5, M6, M535, Z4M...etc, etc....the logo alone does NOT mean an M car...when will you all get this???

So if its an "M" you can just slap M wherever you want? Thats still gay. So in reality, and this goes for other makes as well...don't add badges, if anything, delete them...or face the wrath. It's your car. Only about 2% of the population knows whether they belong or gives a s*** anyway.

The responses on this board are a sample of what others on the road will be thinking. Justified or not, expect a lot of ridicule. But, it's your car - if the good feeling you get by adding a ///M outweighs the ridicule you'll get from a lot of other owners - who cares what others think? |

Who cares if its sport, m-sport, or no sport.... the MODEL is 135i.. NOT M135i, 135iM, 1M35i, 13M5i,etc....
Put m's everywhere but once you change the badge that says the actual model name then you are just a poser... Like someone said above either leave it or delete it but don't add more to it...

What would have been relevant is if in the heading it said 135i M-Sport Coupe, you can see there is no distinction there. Frankly, even if it were, there is still not enough justification IMO to start debadging the 135i moniker and replacing it with the ///M logos. I've had a highly modified M5 and hated to see many plain vanilla 5-series with the ///M logo in the back, it is poserish. I even considered selling the DINAN insignia badge I had, it's crazy how people would pay several hundred for it and slap it on car that doesn't have a single Dinan part on it! I figured it would be a dis-service to sell it to some poser and just kept it...

I can't believe this is still going. If you care so much about what BMW intended, why don't you just marry them?
Debadge = tasteful. ///M on the back of your car = you removed something from your car, +1. You added something with no performance function to your car made of "chrome plastic" -10. It would be better if you tore out your passenger seat, carpets, sound deadening material, rear bench, and CDV. Modifications to any sports car should involve removing all comfort features and ripping as much weight out as humanly possible, not sticking chrome things to your car. If anyone here had the balls to gut their 135i out and use it as a daily driver/track toy, it would be hillarious. If you ordered your car with idrive and tore it all out, replacing it with useful electronic gauges, it would be +100. Q-cars are so much cooler than trying to show off what you have. There's always something faster and less practical for DD. The more you try to make your car look faster, the more you lose. |

License plate ///M I think is a perfect compromise to the "show" status, considering the 135i "M package" is from BMW. If you have M crap all in and out ur car, whats wrong with a license plate frame to express a little sport... Motorsport to be precise. 135i's are track ready, can keep up with M3's with a single tune, and express the idealism of automotive enthusiasm BMW has created. Who the freak cares if BMW doesn't call it a M1; perhaps they have yet to release it... I would draw the line at a M badge. Indicating a factory spec of car that does not exist isn't kosher, so expect to be flamed, but sporting "M" lifestyle shouldn't be shunned.
BTW I plan on putting a M license plate frame on my car. Enough to get the point across without being a poser, IMO.
