ETS Intercooler install (with instructions)

Just installed the ETS intercooler. Very nice piece of equipment. Welds are excellent and fit was excellent. Install went smooth except for having to cut through the one factory crimp clamp.

Can't wait to put some miles on this intercooler.

Very nice! Looks stock. I just wish those couplers were pure black with no logo on them so it can be real stealthy!

Great write-up!

Anyone know how much larger this is than the OEM intercooler? 10%, 20%...?

Well VK motorwerks when it first came out used the ETS core and VK motorwerks were claiming 40% larger core than stock.

I will say its not always about size, but about weight. The ETS is much heavier which means it can absorb and dissipate alot more heat.

Garage List
Thanks for the pix and write up. If you use a dremel to cut that one steel band on the PITA pipe, does it just pop off?

Not at steady-state. The heat capacity of added mass will let it take some extra heat, until it is "warmed" up. At that point it is purely a function of surface area. A larger core does not necessarily equal more surface area, so the right question is how much more AS do we get?
