1M First Exhaust mod by HP Autowerks, Inc.
Ever since we picked up the 1M we thought the exhaust was a bit too civilized. It needed a bit more rumble, nothing overly loud, but just a touch more.
We removed the oem mid-pipe(28.3 lbs) with two secondary cats and a resonator and replaced it with a full stainless steel resonated mid-pipe(21.2 lbs). The mid-pipe has dual 2.5" pipes with dual resonators, into a single 3" Y. Installation time is about 30 minutes using hand tools with a perfect fit. Here is a quick video with sound(we will post another one later as we were running out of daylight): Last edited by HP Autosport; 05-25-2011 at 12:45 AM.. |

I agree with the dyno comment. I am even more curious what a stock 1M would dyno at. Will the results show more hp/tq similar to the 135i?
Great you guys are jumping on mods for the new 1M. Keep up the good work. |

How does it sound in the car while cruising or part throttle? No drone?
When I was under my car the other day I was looking at this section of pipe and thinking similar things as you. Thanks for cutting away.

It's available now! Quote:
Edit: Just did a 20 miles loop... At 60 mph the exhaust is as quiet as it was stock if not quieter. At 65 mph the story is the same. At 70 mph or about 2300 rpm there is a slight resonance. And at 75 mph is back to the nice and quiet cruise. The exhaust note is very sporty now around town and has the gurgle that I was looking for, accelerating through the gears are with some authority now. Great job, guys! So the midpipe on the 1///M is the same as on the N54 135i?
If so, that's great news as it means I can re-use my Maddad mids!

Looks good. Any video/sound of these midpipes installed on a 135i w/ a aftermarket muffler?
